Challenge Technology has developed the first commercially available unit for measuring the thermal expansion of concrete cores in accordance with AASHTO TP-60. As measuring the thermal expansion of concrete mixes becomes increaseingly important, the HM-251 will be thermal expansion system material labs come to depend on for reliable and consistent results.

The HM-251 has a sturdy cabinet with a stainless steel top with integrated water bath that will stand up to the abuse of concrete cores and water. The frame movement is again minimized by using 304 stainless steel. The height is preset for specimens according to TP-60. The HM-251 also uses a high-accuracy thermistor for temperature control and measurement along with a LVDT to accuratly measure length change. The heating/cooling circulator temperature settings are automatically controlled by the software to reach the required temperatures.
